I have blueish/gray smoke coming from the exhaust on rebuilt 302?

I have a rebuilt 302 and smokes some at idle and alot at acceleration. I seem to have some oil residue in the exhaust and i did the pistons right were i dont have the rings in a straight line everything is correct. i ran synthetic at first thanks to misleading summit technicians, i have put 100 miles on it and still acts the same.... but now for some reason i am losing quite a bit of oil... like a quart in a half in a 30 mile drive. i have alot of after market parts such as custom ground cam, afr heads, edelbrock upper and lower intake, 30lbs injectors and mass air flow. anybody have suggestions thanks. You do not use Synthetic Motor Oil in an engine that is not broken in.

New engines need to "break-in", which means the rings %26amp; bearings need to wear down, in order to seal properly. Synthetic oil will not allow it to happen, so the oil gets sucked pass the rings into the combustion chambers.

It is going to take awhile to get the motor to quit smoking. You can try running straight 40w oil. Replace the synthetic oil %26amp; the Filter. Put in the 40w oil %26amp; new filter.I have blueish/gray smoke coming from the exhaust on rebuilt 302?

Lose the 30 lb injectors or get a tune. Second: Once the synthetic oil got in there on a fresh ring, it's coked the hone. Drain the oil. You have to use a dedicated break in oil to seal rings. Shelf oil won't cut it anymore in this day and age. Try some Brad Penn Break In Oil or a valvoline VR1 in a SAE 30. Use a Wix 51515R oil filter for break in. Go buy a can of AC Delco Top Engine cleaner. Follow directions on the can. This will clean most of the coked oil from the hone. But you best get on the ball right now. Once you get it back fired up again, go drive it. Get it up to about 200 degrees, too. Then put it under a hard acceleration load in 2nd and 3rd gear so you can seal the rings up. This will help greatly, but I can tell you that it's never going to seal up completely and you'll have to pull it out and hone about 4 strokes into it.
